These four examples, spanning a discontinued-manufacture piece, Holy Trinity executions, and independent innovation, demonstrate that titanium isn't merely acceptable for grand complications but may be optimal. As the complication count increases, titanium's advantages become more pronounced. A sporty, thick, precious-metal perpetual calendar can become tiring with prolonged wear. The titanium equivalent delivers identical mechanical performance in a comfortable, wear-friendly package. This matters for collectors who acquire complications to experience them. From a watch collecting strategy perspective, titanium executions of high-complication watches represent compelling value. You're accessing identical movements and complications in more wearable packages, often at discounts to precious metal equivalents—not that you can get a De Bethune or a Vacheron Constantin at a discount, but in other brands you can. I find Grade 5 titanium fascinating for its wearability, lightness, and scratch resistance, and for its distinctive graphite grey luster—when satin-brushed—that makes it unique in appearance; see the Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Titanium below.
For collectors who prioritize wearing their watches, this creates genuine opportunities to acquire serious watchmaking without the precious metal premiums that provide no functional benefit. The trajectory is clear. As demographics shift toward collectors who prioritize wearability over traditional status signals, titanium's advantages will become increasingly valued. Exactly why in 2023, Rolex jumped on the titanium bandwagon and released the Yacht-Master 42 in titanium reference 226627—the first titanium Rolex watch ever.Materials science is settled: titanium is objectively superior where weight and durability matter. What remains is for collector psychology to evolve beyond reflexive associations with precious metals. Those who recognize this shift early will build more wearable collections, while others continue to pay premiums for density that serves no purpose beyond tradition, status, or flex. Grand complications deserve cases enabling them to be experienced, not merely admired.

The BR-03 Chrono Rafale Solo Display is powered by the non-in-house automatic calibre BR-CAL.301 with a power reserve of 42 hours. The watch is delivered on a black rubber strap and an ultra-resilient black synthetic fabric strap with Rafale Solo Display logo marking and a black PVD pin buckle. With a water resistance of 100 meters, this new watch is ready to take on the air, sea and land.
On the Wrist & PriceThe Bell & Ross BR-03 Chrono Rafale Solo Display wears with serious presence but surprising comfort for such a substantial piece at 42 mm, thanks to its black ceramic construction. The signature square case sits confidently without overwhelming the wrist.Despite the angular, cockpit-instrument aesthetic, there's no uncomfortable overhang or awkward positioning. The matte micro-blasted black ceramic gives it a stealth presence that feels appropriately tactical without being overly aggressive. Lastly, the yellow and orange accents pop nicely against the matte black dial without being too flashy or loud.Overall, it wears like a watch that means business. Substantial and purposeful, but engineered well enough for actual daily wear rather than just admiration.Sticker Price USD 6,000. For more info on Bell & Ross click here.

The 2 o'clock subdial runs continuously through the power reserve; the 10 o'clock subdial is the more interesting of the pair, an "observation" small seconds with a flyback function triggered by the pusher at 8 o'clock, letting the counter reset and restart instantly rather than stopping dead—useful for timing intermediate intervals or two events unfolding in parallel. Every piece carries Breguet's own hallmark, with a rate tolerance of +/- 1 second per day classified as "Scientific" precision.
The MovementPower comes from the manual-wound Breguet calibre 74SC composed of 361 parts and 54 jewels, beating at a rare 10 Hz or 72,000 vibrations per hour. A beat rate that we’ve also seen on other Breguet timepieces, including the Breguet Classique Chronométrie ref. 7727 and the Breguet Type XXII Flyback Chronograph ref. 3880. That frequency is the point of the magnetic-pivot exercise: a faster-beating balance recovers from rating disturbances more quickly. The magnetic-pivot escapement—a system that remains exclusive to Breguet across the industry— is embedded within a pair of end stones; two micro-magnets produce opposing fields of roughly 13,000 gauss, holding the carbon-steel balance staff in a kind of magnetic suspension where only its very tip makes contact with the jewel. The payoff shows up in positional accuracy: the pivot performs identically no matter which of the six orientations the watch is in, effectively engineering gravity out of the equation. The sapphire caseback puts the mechanism on display, magnets included, alongside a phenakistoscope-style animation driven by the escape-wheel, cycling through 20 images per second to morph between "1775" and "2025"—a first for Breguet.
On the Wrist & PriceOn the wrist, the Classique 7225 wears exactly as a 41 mm dress watch in gold should—present without being heavy, formal without disappearing under a cuff. The dual small-seconds arrangement takes a moment to parse from across a room, but up close it reads as intended: two kinds of time measured for two different reasons. The navy alligator strap, paired with an 18K Breguet gold pin buckle, keeps the whole package in the dial's tonal register, and the piece ships in an individually numbered red leather box modeled on Breguet's historical Moroccan-leather presentation cases. Backing it all is a five-year international warranty and Breguet's commitment to lifetime repairability—a piece built to be serviced, not replaced.Sticker Price CHF 75,000—approx USD 91,800. Things to Know About the Watch"Bal du Temps"—dance of time—is both a poetic name and an apt technical description. The L.Leroy 'Bal du Temps' Minute Repeater Tourbillon watch displays the hour with a single central hour hand; activated by a slider at the 9 o'clock position, one can read the minutes acoustically via the minute repeater mechanism, chiming the hours, quarter hours, and the minutes, all differentiated by distinct tones struck by two hammers on two gongs on the back of the watch.
The dial is where the Bal du Temps makes its strongest visual argument, as there is no solid dial plate; the movement is the dial itself. The ALD-treated blue hour chapter ring on ref. LL306/1 in platinum frames an entirely open center, through which the movement is exposed in full: gear trains, repeater mechanism, and the flying tourbillon cage at 6 o'clock are all visible simultaneously, shifting with every movement of the wrist. The blue ring carries applied rhodium Arabic numerals in L.Leroy's signature style with a single matching rhodium hour hand. The minimalism of the time display is deliberate, drawing the eye inward to the mechanics rather than competing with them. The "Swiss Made" inscription sits quietly at the base of the chapter ring, the only text besides the brand signature near 12.
The 43 mm tambour-shaped platinum .950 case measures 13.80 mm thick, with a domed sapphire crystal and 11.10 mm without. The sapphire crystal on the dial and case back sides is treated with anti-reflective coating. The polished domed bezel, fluted crown engraved with the double "L" monogram, and a caseback ring with frosted and polished relief engravings carry finishing details through to every surface.
Water resistance is 30 meters, and the watches are delivered on a black alligator strap with large scales lined with small-scale alligator and tone-on-tone stitching. The strap is secured by an open-worked folding clasp in matching case material engraved with the Maison's signature mark.
The flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock completes one rotation per minute beneath a polished titanium bridge engraved with the intertwined Leroy double "L" monogram. Production is limited, reflecting both the movement's complexity and the brand's deliberate positioning.
The MovementPowering the L.Leroy 'Bal du Temps' is the manual-wound calibre L610SQ. This movement, produced exclusively in Geneva for L.Leroy is composed of 321 components and equipped with variable-inertia balance wheel with flat balance spring, a Swiss lever escapement, and a single barrel delivering a 90-hour power reserve. The minute repeater operates on two gongs with two hammers.
On the Wrist & PriceOn the wrist, the L.Leroy Bal du Temps wears much smaller than its 43 mm case suggests. The tambour case distributes the case mass proportionally, and the polished platinum profile against the blue ALD chapter ring gives it a quiet, almost understated presence from a distance. Despite its platinum construction, the watch weighs 168 grams. The black alligator strap keeps the wrist feel slim and formal; its tone-on-tone stitching and open-worked platinum folding clasp are consistent with the overall restraint. This is a grand complication that wears its presence unambiguously. Two of watchmaking's most demanding complications, 240 years of pedigree, and three material expressions for the Bal du Temps make a case that L.Leroy's return is on the right track.Sticker Price USD 348,000 for platinum, USD 333,000 for 18K 5N red gold, and USD 300,000 for titanium. More info on L.Leroy here.

The rhodium-plated dial layers satin-brushed and bead-blasted surfaces, with Arabic numeral subdials for small seconds and a 30-minute counter. A ruby-set barrel flanked by polished screws adds a technical accent at the subdial centers. The flying tourbillon cage at six o'clock receives blue DLC coating; blued steel is used for the chronograph seconds hand, subdial hands, and four case screws—an elegant chromatic contrast against the grey dial. The monopusher chronograph is buttery smooth and one of the best watches at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026.This watch combines two historically significant complications: a column-wheel monopusher chronograph and a flying tourbillon with an off-centered cage. The pairing is an intentional tribute as Louis Moinet invented the chronograph, and his close friend Abraham-Louis Breguet invented the tourbillon.

The MovementPowering the Louis Moinet 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph is the in-house calibre LM114, which is a manual-wound movement with a double barrel delivering 96 hours of power reserve while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph when fully wound. The movement is assembled at Louis Moinet's ateliers in Les Breuleux.
On the Wrist & PriceOn the wrist, the 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph reads exactly as it should: clean, assured, and quietly spectacular. The silver rhodium dial gives the blue DLC tourbillon cage room to command attention without competing with anything else on the dial. At 40.6 mm in grade 5 titanium and a total weight of 113 grams, the watch wears with genuine lightness, and the integrated bracelet sits flush with an architectural confidence that matches the case. For a tourbillon chronograph, it is a remarkably composed watch. Sticker Price USD 135,000. For more info on Louis Moinet, click here.

Both variants showcase cutting-edge materials. The tripartite case, secured by titanium spline screws, combines a carbon TPT bezel and case back with a satin-brushed middle case in 5N red gold. The case measures 41.7 mm in diameter and 9.7 mm in thickness. The entire watch—case, movement, strap, and buckle—weighs a mere 73.4 grams, a figure that seems almost impossible given the technical complexity within and the use of 5N red gold for the middle case and clasp. Extremely light, it delivers remarkable lightness on the wrist while maintaining scratch resistance and visual appeal. The crown, in a combination of titanium and 5N red gold, is very unique in shape and resembles a torque wrench.
The MovementAt the heart of the RM 33-03 beats the newly developed RMXP3 calibre, an ultra-slim automatic movement measuring just 3.28 mm in thickness. This remarkable thinness is achieved through an ingenious off-centered monobloc micro-rotor crafted from solid platinum, a material choice that transcends mere luxury. The platinum's density and positioning create optimal winding efficiency while maintaining the movement's compact architecture, mounted on ceramic ball bearings for whisper-quiet bi-directional operation. The movement's foundation rests upon a Grade 5 titanium baseplate enhanced with Titalyt treatment, an electroplasma oxidation process that transforms the metal's surface properties. Combined with black PVD-treated bridges, this construction achieves exceptional rigidity and surface flatness essential for consistent timekeeping. The variable-inertia balance operates at 21,600 vph with four adjustable micro-weights, allowing nuanced regulation without altering the hairspring's length. The power reserve delivers approximately 40 hours. The movement visible through the display case back is a real treat for the eyes.
On the Wrist & PriceOn the wrist, the RM 33-03 Automatic wears incredibly well and with a featherlight presence. Without a doubt, it represents one of the brand's most wearable offerings. The lightness of this watch exemplifies Richard Mille's mastery of advanced materials, where the marriage of 5N red gold and Carbon TPT achieves structural integrity without mass. The slim profile dramatically enhances wrist comfort, while the case's rounded contours ensure perfect skin contact. The skeletonized calibre, visible from both sides, transforms the watch into a kinetic sculpture, revealing layers of technical artistry at every angle. This watch represents Richard Mille's philosophy in its purest form: uncompromising engineering meets wearable luxury. For those seeking the brand's technical prowess in a package that balances everyday wearability with unmistakable presence, the RM 33-03 Carbon TPT 5N Red Gold delivers exceptional value within the Richard Mille universe.Sticker Price CHF 145,000 Swiss Francs—approx USD 181,500.
At 40 mm in 18K pink gold, the triple-lug case with sculpted geometric lines lands where presence and wearability still negotiate rather than fight, its polished and satin-brushed surfaces alternating to work the light. The finishing runs to inner-angle polishing, which no machine can execute and which most owners will never consciously notice—the sort of detail that justifies itself to the wearer long before it justifies itself to anyone else. The Poinçon de Genève hallmark appears on both the dial and the oscillating weight—the placement on the dial required specific approval from the Poinçon de Genève authority. The red accents against the cosmic blue backdrop add the right amount of contrast and sportiness to the watch.
The case finishing is exquisitely done, and the screw-down crown is protected by crown guards that are not too prominent. The watch features an interchangeable strap system that allows the wearer to switch straps in seconds. The watch is delivered on an astral blue—black in appearance—calf strap with a pink gold buckle.
The MovementThe sapphire case back reveals the calibre RD850-. This automatic movement is certified by the Poinçon de Genève, and executes its biretrograde perpetual calendar with moon phase across 438 components. Beating at 28,800 vph it provides a 60-hour power reserve. Finishing includes Côtes de Genève, wheel-bevelling, burnisher bevelling, frosting, circular graining, perlage, and mirror polishing—each applied by hand to every component. The prestigious Poinçon de Genève certification is prominently displayed on the oscillating weight, which is a modernized version of the 1996 oscillating weight from vintage Roger Dubuis timepieces. A co-founder’s inscription in cursive runs along the movement's periphery, a detail carried over from other references.
On the Wrist & PriceOn the wrist, the Excalibur Biretrograde Perpetual Calendar wears true to its size. At 40 mm, the case sits flat and compact; the notched bezel and short angled lugs pull the profile inward rather than letting it sprawl—this is a Roger Dubuis that fits under a shirt cuff, which has not always been a given. Pink gold against the astral blue leather strap does most of the visual work from a distance; up close, the dial resolves into its separate layers, the retrograde day and date scales flanking the openworked center while the moon phase anchors the lower half against a field of aventurine. The blue shifts constantly with the light, going almost slate in shadow and turning distinctly astral when it catches the sun. It wears as a dress watch that never quite behaves like one, and that tension is the point. This watch is limited to 188 pieces only.Sticker Price USD 109,000. Most striking of all are the heart-shaped polished and blued steel hour and minute hands, a recurring Speake-Marin motif that lands somewhere between artisanal craft and quiet eccentricity. A blued central screw below the ‘Speake Marin’ signature logo adds one more considered detail to a dial that rewards extended observation. The new-generation Piccadilly case measures 10.5 mm thick and is fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both the front and back.
The MovementPowering the Piccadilly Resilience Gold is the in-house SMA03, a self-winding automatic calibre with a fully integrated tungsten micro-rotor— a meaningful specification at this price point. The movement beats at 28,800 vph with a 52-hour power reserve when fully wound, and its 147 components are finished to a standard that matches the dial's ambitions: a black rhodium-plated mainplate with circular graining, bridges decorated with Côtes de Genève measuring 1.5 mm in width, beveled and hand-polished edges, and 5N gold-plated engraving. The movement is fully visible through the back of the display case and is a real treat for the eyes.
On the Wrist & PriceOn the wrist, the proportions of the Piccadilly Resilience Gold are classical without feeling conservative, and the rose gold tone against the blue ostrich strap is an unambiguous success, exquisitely elegant. The 38 mm case sits flat and centered, the ostrich strap softens the wear immediately, and the enamel dial in natural light is genuinely spectacular. A brand with a distinct aesthetic vocabulary, and the Resilience Gold speaks it fluently. At its price, it delivers a serious punch in independent horology. Sticker Price CHF 31,900—approx USD 40,000. More info on Speake-Marin here.

The Interchangeable Strap System: Pure VersatilityThe integrated 18K pink gold bracelet is a masterpiece. Each half-Maltese cross link flows seamlessly into the next. The bracelet tapers beautifully, and its double-folding deployant clasp is as comfy as it gets. But the real party trick is the interchangeable strap system. Without any tools, you can swap the bracelet for either of the two included rubber straps: one in navy blue—perfectly complementing the warm pink gold tones—and another in white.Changing straps or the bracelet takes about 30 seconds once you get the hang of it. The blue rubber strap transform the watch from a more formal look to a casual-elegant, perfect for weekend wear. Meanwhile, the white rubber strap creates an unexpected sporty vibe that works brilliantly for a Miami trip or even the beach—50-meter water resistance—, offering a fresh contrast to the warm pink gold, despite its rubbery nature.
The Movement: Thin is BetterTurning the watch over reveals the intricacies of the 36-jewel automatic movement through the sapphire display case back. You can admire the in-house Calibre 1120 QP/1 in all its finished glory. At only 4.05mm thick—yielding an 8.1 total thickness of the watch case—, this movement is a technical tour de force. The 22K oscillating weight features Vacheron Constantin's compass rose motif, which not only looks elegant but also provides smooth, quiet winding. The 40-hour power reserve is very adequate for daily wear. However, weekend warriors who decide to leave the watch off during the weekend—who in their right mind would do that anyway—will need to reset the perpetual calendar when putting it back on the wrist on a Monday—unless you conveniently leave the watch on a watch winder, Rapport London would be our brand of choice. The finishing of the movement is in line with what you'd expect from the oldest watch manufacture in the world, which just turned 270 years old. The Côtes de Genève decoration, straight-graining, and meticulous chamfering transform what could be purely functional components into miniature works of art.
On the Wrist & PriceOn the wrist, the watch's technical specs tell part of the story—41.5 mm diameter, 8.1 mm thick—but they don't capture how well this watch actually wears. At 8.1 mm thick, this is genuinely svelte for any watch, let alone one that houses a perpetual calendar. For context, many time-only dress watches are much thicker. The result is a watch that slides effortlessly under a shirt cuff and sits flat against the wrist without the top-heavy feel that plagues many complicated watches or solid gold timepieces. The 41.5 mm case diameter hits the sweet spot for modern proportions. The integrated bracelet design means there are no protruding lugs, so the watch wears slightly smaller than the dimensions suggest. On a 7.5-inch wrist, it felt perfectly proportioned—substantial enough to have presence, but not so large as to feel ostentatious. The warm pink gold case and dial combination create a subtle, luxurious aesthetic that catches the light beautifully throughout the day. The tone-on-tone execution feels both modern and timeless, offering a refined alternative to more contrasting dial-and-case combinations. The monochromatic look of the watch makes it ideally suited for all types of outfits without clashing.Sticker Price USD 120,000. More info on Vacheron Constantin, click here.

Most evocative is the chronograph's seconds hand, which features 13 alternating red and white stripes drawn directly from the original colony flag's symbolism. The caseback is engraved "AMERICA 250th ANNIVERSARY." The steel edition is limited to 250 pieces— a number that mirrors the anniversary itself—while the forged carbon version is capped at just 25 pieces. Both are exclusively available in the United States.
The MovementPowering both versions is the El Primero 400, a direct descendant of the calibre that made the original A384 historically significant, widely recognized as the world's first automatic, integrated high-frequency chronograph when it launched in 1969. It beats at 36,000 vph, enabling precise measurement to the tenth of a second, with a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The movement features a column-wheel mechanism and Côtes de Genève finishing on the oscillating weight, and visible through the display case back.
On the Wrist & PriceThe steel version of the Zenith Chronomaster Revival A384 Liberty II Edition wears exactly as the wristshot suggests, controlled and tidy at 37 mm, sitting close to the wrist on the iconic Gay Frères ladder bracelet, which remains one of the most satisfying period-correct bracelet designs in the vintage chronograph category. Meanwhile, the forged carbon version, worn on the blue Cordura rubber strap with red accent stitching, is stealthier with its matte carbon texture, which plays beautifully against the white-and-blue dial and gives the watch a decidedly contemporary edge that the steel version doesn't have. Sticker Price USD 10,600 for steel and USD 13,400 for carbon. More info on Zenith here.

Barring interruption, the calendar requires no manual correction until 1 March 2100. The moon-phase display debuts an integrated day/night indication: a celestial disc rotating once per 24 hours shows a star-filled sky after dark and a clear sky during daylight. Accuracy is one day's deviation per 122.6 years. The 41.9mm platinum case contrasts sharply against the dark dial and black hand-stitched alligator strap with platinum deployant buckle.
The MovementCalibre L225.1 spans 685 components across 34.1 mm and 8.3 mm of height—numbers that convey the density of what Lange has packed in. The self-winding rotor uses an 18K white gold central segment in black rhodium for the first time, with a 950 platinum centrifugal mass delivering 50 hours of power reserve.
The tourbillon cage, cock, and intermediate-wheel cock are finished in black polish and hand-engraved with stars and a shooting star. A diamond endstone secured by a screwed gold chaton sits at the tourbillon's center. The stop-seconds mechanism, protected by a 2008 Lange patent, allows one-second setting accuracy.
Summary & PriceThe Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar "Lumen" is among the most technically and aesthetically considered pieces at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026 — fifty watches that function as both grand complication and nocturnal light show. This watch is limited to 50 pieces.Sticker Price Upon Request. For more info on A. Lange & Söhne, click here.

The MovementThe Armin Strom Orbit Midnight Purple is powered by the caliber ASS20, which remains the engine behind the Orbit's defining trick: a date that only appears when requested. A pusher at 10 o'clock sends the date hand from its resting position at 12 o'clock out to the bezel, where it indicates the current date before advancing automatically at midnight; a second press returns it to neutral, leaving the dial uncluttered for the rest of the time.
A column-wheel mechanism, more commonly associated with chronographs, governs the handoff between positions, while Armin Strom's patented Equal Force Date Barrel maintains consistent torque delivery across a 72-hour power reserve. Turn the watch over, and the new mainplate does its work with rhodium-coated bridges, hand-finished and openworked, that sit against the purple base in a contrast that makes the in-house construction as much a part of the design as the dial. Hand-polished bevels, perlage, and circular graining are present throughout, and as with every Armin Strom watch, the movement is assembled twice over: once for mechanical precision, once for finishing.
Summary & PriceThe Armin Strom Orbit Midnight Purple. It's a watch that builds on an idea the brand has returned to several times now, but the addition of a matching mainplate is the first instance in which the color reads as structural rather than cosmetic, yet another proof that Armin Strom sees Midnight Purple as an identity, not just a finish. The watch is limited to only 20 pieces.Sticker Price CHF 36,000—approx USD 44,600. For more info on Armin Strom click here.
